The Grand National has been run at Aintree, Liverpool, since 1839. The race beginning of April, this race offer a unique test for both horse and rider. The Grand National is certainly the best-known race in the U.K. 
The only British winners of the Irish Grand National in the last 18 years were Butler’s Cabin in2007, Granit d’Estruval in 2004 and Mudahim in1997.
Last year only 15 horses completed the race, with the winner being three-quarters of a length clear when crossing the line.
Grand National runners require agility, power, experience, precision and staying power.
Grand National 2009 has a field of 40 horses, racing a distance of 4.5m around the famous old Aintree course and jumping over 30 fences.
